Getting Started with SkillBars
1 Create Account
Register with your email address, and we’ll send you an email confirmation code.
2 Purchase Licenses
After registering, users can purchase training licenses. A license grants a single user access to a training program for one year.
3 Add Users
There are three ways to add users:
- Adding users one-by-one
- Entering a list of emails
- Importing a CSV file that must include email but can optionally also include first name, last name, title, photo URL, and org unit path (e.g., /Finance/Accounting).
4 Assign Licenses
There are two ways to assign licenses:
- One by one
- By using the bulk license assignment tool.
In both cases, we enforce an exclusivity rule where a user can either be assigned one Communication, Teamwork, and Leadership license, or they can be assigned a 3 Program Bundle License.
5 Invite Users
Once a user has been assigned a license, they can immediately sign in with their email. A password is not required, as we authenticate with one-time use email tokens.
Admins can also send invite emails to all licensed users, giving them a one-click sign-in that takes them directly to the training without them having to sign in.
6 Monitor Progress
Training is monitored through the admin dashboard, which presents each user’s training progress in a Skill Card that visually shows the progress they are making and the Skill Badges they have earned. Admins can drill into each Skill Card for a much more detailed view of how a user is progressing through the training with the training history navigator.
7 Listen to Training
Users log in to the training either by using their email or by clicking on the link in the invite email. A user then listens to the audio training in any order they like.
8 Take Assessments
Once a user feels ready to take the assessment, they answer 18 questions about how frequently they engage in a behavior.
9 Earn Skill Bars and Badges
After taking an assessment, results are presented in a 9-segment progress bar, with each segment corresponding to a topic they did or did not complete. Once a user fills their progress bar, they are awarded a Skill Badge.
10 Create Playlists
At any time, users can create playlists and share them with others within their organizations. Playlists allow users to mix-and-match different topic audio segments in any order they like, to craft any narrative they like, and share this new content arrangement in the form of an article or blog post.
